Academies 2013

Aisling Doonan and the GDM have drawn up comprehensive programmes for the U13, U14, U15 and U16 Academies. There needs to be discussions with the clubs as to how best these programmes can be delivered.

Aisling Doonan, Teresa McNabb and the GDM carried out a pilot S & C session with a selection of St. Michael’s College pupils on Monday 10th December 2012.

Fermanagh Schools’ Ward Cup team.

The Fermanagh Schools’ team qualified for the semi-final of the Ward Cup by beating SWC, Armagh on 22nd November 2012 and played St. Mary’s, Clady, on Wednesday 13th February 2013 at MUSA. The Fermanagh Schools had a number of players missing through illness and injury but that doesn’t take away from the performance of a very strong Clady team who won easily in the end on a scoreline of 7-10 to 1-6. Year 13 & 14 pupils from South West College, St. Aidan’s High School, St. Comhghall’s College, St. Eugene’s College and St. Joseph’s College have taken part in these games.

Coaching and Games Committee

At a meeting on Wednesday 13th February 2013 Deirdre Donnelly, Coaching Officer, proposed that opinions from the club questionnaires, our responsibilities to Croke Park’s Strategy, the thoughts of the Committee – and anyone co-opted onto it – and Fermanagh’s Work Plan should be incorporated into the updating of the Fermanagh Strategy document. The next meeting to start implementing these ideas was set for Monday 25th March 2013.

Hurling

The GDM met with Fabian Burns and Paul Divilly to initiate the planning of a winter programme and to have a look at the Hurling Academy programme.

It is proposed this year to play half-time games at our home NHL and NFL.

The first home NFL game was against Roscommon on Saturday 9th February 2013. Derrylin and Newtownbutler brought players to play at half-time in this game. The next home NFL game is V Monaghan on Saturday 9th March 2013 and Belnaleck and Erne Gaels will bring players to these half-time games. The final home NFL game is on Sunday 24th March 2013 V Sligo. At this stage Tempo have intimated they will bring players to half-time games at this match.

The first home NHL game is on Sunday 24th February V Tyrone. This is followed by homes games V Donegal on Saturday 16th March, and V Monaghan on Sunday 31st March.

The games played at our home fixtures will be for U10s (preferably only 2003 & 2004), boys and girls, in 2 x 9-a-side games. Clubs are asked to bring 18 players to these games.

Clubs who are interested in taking part in these games should contact me as soon as possible.

Feile 2013

“Please see communication as we discussed at the last Coaching Meeting. Please inform the relevant committee within your county.

Eligibility for 2013 Feile

Where Counties have not already held pre-qualification for 2013 Feile, Counties have to be represented (if their taking part in the tournament) by a club which did not represent the county within that sport (football, Hurling) in the 2012 National Competition.  This stipulation would not apply for Clubs which acted as a host in the 2012 National Competition, within the sport that they were hosting.

This eligibility criteria will not apply to overseas units.

Any County winner who is not eligible for the National Feile will be allowed entry to the Provincial Regional Feile events.

If Counties are organising a Feile Tournament and a Club which represented the County at the 2012 National Feile, wins the tournament, the County should be represented by the runner up at the National Tournament (assuming they did not also represented the County in the 2012 National Competition) or the County should nominate a representative.”
