Fermanagh Club Mentoring Programme

Where to now with Fermanagh Club Mentoring Programme?

If you can remember back to the beginning and the approach adopted for delivering this Club Mentoring Programme – it was three-pronged.

1. Information and practical help delivered at Workshops/Sessions – based on the integrated “Fermanagh Seven Steps to Success” plan.

2. All information/resources associated with the sessions made available on the Fermanagh Website – Games Development>Fermanagh Club Mentoring Programme>Week/Session 1 etc

3. Each interested club would then decide what they needed in terms of follow-up help from Coaching & Games – more information, advice or workshops for coaches in your club.

That is the stage we are at now and it would be a pity after the efforts of your club’s Youth/Coaching Officers and your coaches that this programme would not be followed up and put to good use for the benefit of your players.

The County Coaches and I look forward to hearing from you.

Academies 2013

The U15 & U16 Academy teams travelled to Cloghan on Friday 29th march to play Monaghan in two games. As it turned out we played three games – because of the cold we played a game between those players who were not initially involved in the U15 & U16 games. This game served its purpose.

After the usual strange first 20 minutes both teams did fairly well. It was proposed after this game that

  1. We should maybe concentrate on games – 65% turn-out to session on Wed 20th March & 85% turn-out to games V Monaghan on 29th March.
  2. We need to refresh with the players critical factors for county football just before games.

With these things in mind the U15s & U16s are playing Leitrim in two games on Saturday 20th April at 11.30am – venue TBC.

However, we have arranged for the players to arrive at 10.00am with a view to having a coaching/refresher session at 10.15am for 45mins before the throw-in of the games V Leitrim at 11.30am.

To ensure that all players present get reasonable game time there are a number of U15 players who are not invited to this game on Saturday.  All details for both these games are on the website.

Half-time games

It has been suggested that clubs might consider organizing Go Games during half-time of Club games. This has been tried before between the two participating clubs and has worked well in certain circumstances. It has also been tried by clubs using just their own players.
