Fermanagh Club Mentoring Programme

This Programme aimed at empowering club coaches started on Wednesday 30th January in St. Michael’s College.

Apologies to those Club Youth/Coaching Officers and Club coaches for whom the change of the Club Mentoring session, “U16 – A Critical Year”, from Wednesday 13th to Thursday 14th March did not suit.

Club Mentoring Programme – Session 8

It was decided at Session 7 on Thursday 14th march not to hold the 8th and final session scheduled for Wednesday 20th March 2013.

It was felt that the effort put in by coaches and club officers so far had been exceptional and that the benefits of next week’s final review session could perhaps be achieved by email or phone.

Where to now with Fermanagh Club Mentoring Programme?

If you can remember back to the beginning and the approach adopted for delivering this Club Mentoring Programme – it was three-pronged.

1. Information and practical help delivered at Workshops/Sessions – based on the integrated “Fermanagh Seven Steps to Success” plan.

2. All information/resources associated with the sessions made available on the Fermanagh Website – Games Development>Fermanagh Club Mentoring Programme>Week/Session 1 etc

3. Each interested club would then decide what they needed in terms of follow-up help from Coaching & Games – more information, advice or workshops for coaches in your club.

That is the stage we are at now and it would be a pity after the efforts of your club’s Youth/Coaching Officers and your coaches that this programme would not be followed up and put to good use for the benefit of your players.

The County Coaches and I look forward to hearing from you.

Academies 2013

The first outdoor Academy session of 2013 for U15 & U16s was held this afternoon at Lissan.

It came up in discussion at Session 7 of the Mentoring Programme about the need to improve our communication with the coaches of club U14, U16 and Minor teams – to keep them informed about what is happening with the County Academies and their players involved. With a view to starting this process at our end, could I ask you to forward me by text or e mail the mobile number and, preferably, e mail address of your club’s U14, U16 and Minor coaches/managers.

Coaching and Games Committee

The next meeting is set for Monday 25th March 2013.

Fermanagh Kellogg’s Cúl Camps 2013

Half-time games

At the NFL game V Monaghan on Saturday 9th March 2013 Belnaleck and Erne Gaels brought players to play at half-time.

There were half time games at the NHL games V Tyrone and Donegal. Players from Lisbellaw took part in the half-time games at the Tyrone game while players from Kinawley, Teemore, Belcoo & Lisbellaw took part in the Donegal half-time games.

The final home NFL game is on Sunday 24th March 2013 V Sligo. Tempo and Derrygonnelly are bringing players to half-time games at this match.

The final home NHL game is V Monaghan on Sunday 31st March.

Football Go Games 2013

There are two suggestions for the GoGames to be played by clubs not involved in the Derrygonnelly Tournament.

One involves Blitzes among a number of clubs on each allocated date while the other suggestion involves teams playing another team either home or away on those dates. Both of these proposals have merits and disadvantages.

Hurling Go Games Programme 2013

The Fermanagh Hurling Go Games Programme (U8 & U10) will take place once a month on a Friday evening from March – September. Each Club will be asked to host a blitz throughout the season. We also plan to hold a Go Games Blitz day on the Wednesday of the Brewster Park Hurling Cúl Camp.

This Programme will provide regular game opportunities for each team and will also support the coaching that is being delivered in the clubs.

Croke Park Activities Day 2013

The following note was included in an e mail to all clubs on 19th February 2013.

On Tuesday 2nd July 2013 Fermanagh will have access to the Croke Park pitch for GoGames – 4 pitches – from 14.45 to 16.15 with a tour of the Stadium and Museum to follow.

The chance to avail of this great opportunity will be given to clubs who haven’t been to Croke Park in either 2011 or 2012 – namely Belnaleck, Coa, Enniskillen, Erne Gaels, Irvinestown, Knocks, Lisbellaw, Maguiresbridge, St. Patrick’s and Tempo.

Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please discuss and get in touch by e mail as soon as possible.

If these clubs are not in a position to fill the places it will be offered first to 2011 Clubs and then 2012 Clubs.

Can I remind you of the criteria:

a. Provide 25 – 30 players from P.7. and/or P.6. and/or P.5. Please note these ages and start with P. 7s to fill your quota and then move to P.6s and so on.

b. Provide transport and food.

c. Provide vetted, able supervisors and one young referee.”

Erne Gaels are the only club from this group of clubs who have indicated interest in this event.

It is now open again to all clubs – first come by e mail, first served.
