With Division 1 teams getting a weekend off, all focus turned to Division 2 and Division 3 tables in the push for promotion for a number of teams even at this early stage of the season.
With Fermanagh facing New York on Saturday in the Tailteann Cup Preliminary Quarter Final, all teams are still operating at 2 points for a win scenario and more importantly no County players.
Division 2
Ederney 0-15 v Roslea 0-11
Ederney made it 3 wins from 5 against Roslea as a tight tussle between the sides went in the way of the home side.
Pol McKervey was excellent throughout and hit 0-4, while Chris Snow again showed his class with a fine two pointer.
Sean Quigley and Adam Treanor hit two pointers for the away side and by half time Ederney had hit further scores through Darren McCusker, Ryan Maguire and Shay Deazley to leave it 0-11 to 0-4 by the break.
Manus Maguire and Jack Keown pointed after the restart for Ederney, while Sean
Quigley kept Roslea in the game, however Ederney just had a bit much for Roslea and Paul McCusker swung over a delightful score late on.
Kinawley 1-12 v Newtownbutler 2-10
On current form Newtownbutler are going places and they backed this up with another hard-working performance as they defeated Kinawley on Friday evening to make it 5 wins from 5.
Kinawley held sway for the majority of the opening half and started well with Tiarnan McKenna, Ruairi Corrigan and Dara Cathcart all on target.
While Newtownbutler responded with a Kealan Fitzpatrick goal.
Sean McManus, Tiarnan McKenna and Ruairi Corrigan hit further first half points, while Corrigan also smashed home a goal to give his side a 1-7 to 1-3 interval lead.
Newtownbutler though came out and really put on a scintillating second half showing with scores coming from Daire Chapman and a sensational two pointer from Kealan Fitzpatrick. Ger O’Keefe also struck home a penalty goal as the First Fermanagh’s put in a much more improved second half showing.
While for the losers they had second half points from Dara Cathcart (2) and Tiarnan McKenna (2).
Division 3
Brookeborough 1-6 v St Patricks Donagh 2-16
St Patricks Donagh kept the pressure on Tempo at the top with a stirring performance against Brookeborough who finished with 14 men.
The away side led early on and a fine Daire Treacy point made it a three-point game. Paddy Treacy then got in on the scoring act and by the break it was 0-1 to 0-9.
Brian McDermott hit his sides opening goal while Eoghan Curran hit a delightful two pointer, 0-3 to 1-13.
Brookeborough were reduced to 14 men late on as they sit with 1 win from 4 games.
Coa 1-17 v Tempo 1-14
Without a doubt the standout result of the evening was Coa picking up a first win of the season, against near-neighbours Tempo who taste defeat for the first time this year.
Both sides had the measure of each other in the opening half and by the interval it was still locked at 1-7 apiece.
Goals for either team coming from Shay McCarney and Brendan Cassidy.
While home side points delivered from Darragh Murphy and Caoilte Farry, while for Tempo Rian Bogue and Oisin Murphy were accurate.
James Moore, Darragh Murphy, Peter Dolan and superb two pointers from Caoilte Farry and Ben Thompson moved the O’Dwyer’s clear, however Tempo through Ryan McCann and Brendan Cassidy were making it a real game.
However, Coa finished the better and scores from Caoilte Farry and Charlie Reihill secured a first victory of the season.
Derrylin 2-13 v Maguiresbridge 1-13
Derrylin kept the pressure on St Patricks and Tempo with a three-point victory over Maguiresbridge.
Derrylin had early points from Diarmuid Owens, Daire Maguire, Jake and Josh Smith, while a goal from Patrick Dolan.
Maguiresbridge had first half points from Ryan Hannigan (4) and Sean Porteous to leave it 1-8 to 0-5 at half time.
Ryan Hannigan kept the away side in the game with some fine scores, while a goal from Sean Porteous made it all to play for.
Further Maguiresbridge points arrived from Calum St Ledger, Caolan Duffy and Finn Nolan, while Diarmuid Owens replied for Derrylin to leave it 1-9 apiece.
A Josh Smith goal after points from Joe Lunney and Kian Prior gave Derrylin the lead again, but Maguiresbridge hit back with scores from Conor Mulligan, Feidhlim O’Connor and Mark Hughes – however Prior and Owens pointed late for the home side to seal the victory.
