The penultimate round of Fermanagh league action didn’t disappoint with the big movers being –
- Derrygonnelly into the Division 1 Final
- Roslea defeating Kinawley and now having a League Final chance in their own hands.
- Tempo v St Patricks Donagh will contest the Division 3 Final
Westville Hotel SFL Division 1
Devenish 0-13 v Teemore 1-11
Teemore done enough to seal a one-point win and will now be hugely interested spectators at Erne Gaels v Derrygonnelly on Tuesday night in which a draw or a Derrygonnelly win will leave it in Teemore’s hands of making the Division 1 Final.
Cian O’Brien registered 0-10 in here and in truth didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
Derrygonnelly 0-13 v Belnaleck 1-7
Derrygonnelly progress to the Division 1 Final but made hard work of it in the end up.
The home side led at the break, 0-8 to 0-3 thanks to points from Rory Joe Duffy, Michael Jones, Conor Burns, Jack Kelly, Oisin Smyth and Rory Smyth.
Belnaleck made a better fight of it in the second half as Garvan Quigley swept over 3 points before a goal from substitute Mark McKenzie on 58 minutes left it 0-12 to 1-6.
However, both sides hit a late point apiece via Jarlath Flanagan and Bryan Owens to leave Derrygonnelly three-point winners.
Erne Gaels 1-16 v Irvinestown 2-12
Erne Gaels will know they still have it in their own hands and will now look to Tuesday nights clash with Derrygonnelly before they travel to Brewster Park on Sunday.
If the Belleek lads can claim two wins, then they will make the Division1 League Final in a repeat of last year’s showpiece event.
Enniskillen 6-21 v Aghadrumsee 1-10
Enniskillen had the biggest win of the night as Paddy Reihill hit two goals, both set up brilliantly by Conor Love who himself hit 1-1 in the opening half.
Neil McDermott 0-3, Ross Bogue 0-2, Conor Watson 0-1, Jamie Steele 0-1 and James O’Donnell accounted for the home sides tally, while Aghadrumsee had scores from Eugene Kearns, Enda McCabe, Aidan Bannon, Gerry Beggan and Eddie Courtney to leave it 3-9 to 0-5 at the interval.
Further Enniskillen goals came from Cal McAnespy, Neil McDermott and substitute Richard O’Callaghn, while points flowed from Ross Bogue 0-2, Brandon Horan, Conor Love with 0-4, Neil McDermott, Conor Watson and Jamie Steele.
Aghadrumsee hit 1-5 in the second half from Damien McCarville (Goal) and points from Darren Kearns 0-2, Eddie Courtney, Finn Brogan, Jack Mohan.
Crust & Crumb SFL Division 2
Newtownbutler 0-17 v Belcoo 2-10
Newtownbutler finally got back to winning ways, while Belcoo will take greet heart from this performance even though it was still another defeat.
Ederney 1-17 v Lisnaskea 2-13
Both sides were missing plyers for this clash, and it was the home side that got the better of hard-working Lisnaskea team.
Dylan Tierney and Sean Keenan hit the Emmett’s goals, while Ederney had the bulk of scores from the likes of Shay Deazley, Pol McKervey and Paul McCusker.
Roslea 3-12 v Kinawley 1-16
Roslea claimed the spoils here and now put themselves firmly in the driving seat of making a league final appearance, although they must now travel to Ederney on Sunday next.
Kinawley now have a home clash with Newtownbutler but will need Ederney to do the Brian Borus a favour.
At the break it was the away side who led, 0-6 to 0-8.
Ruairi Corrigan hit a goal for Kinawley to move them 0-6 to 1-8 ahead, but James McMahon hit a goal for Roslea.
Roslea would steal the game right at the death and now know if they can get a victory over Ederney they will meet the same opponents in the Division 2 League Final.
Crust & Crumb SFL Division 3
Tempo 2-13 v Derrylin 2-18
Derrylin won the game here, but it still wasn’t enough with St Patricks Donagh winning putting the Donagh side into the League Final with Tempo.
Tempo were lacking a few players with a Stag on, but Derrylin were full value for a 1-5 to 2-11 interval lead mainly thanks to goals from Fearghal McGovern and Josh Smith. Luke Flanagan also impressed with 0-4.
Derrylin kept the attacking sharp throughout and although Tempo came back strong it was the O’Connell’s who claimed the victory which now sees them facing Belcoo in a playoff for Division 2 football in 2027.
St Patricks Donagh 2-20 v Maguiresbridge 2-17
St Patricks Donagh got the better again of Maguiresbridge and in doing so will contest the league Final with Tempo.
Brookeborough 0-9 v Coa 1-7
A clash of the bottom two sides in Division 3 and it was Coa who gained the points and the extra layer of confidence as both sides gear up for the Junior Football Championship in September.
Not much separated the sides throughout this clash, McDonald, McCarney, Wray, Greene, Moore and McManus all hit early points for each team, 0-3 apiece.
Shay McCarney hit a goal for Coa in the second half, while Sean Wray hit further scores for Brookeborough, with Oisin Howell and McDonald pushed Brookeborough ahead.
Gary Lynch and Niall Quinn were introduced, and this really swung the game in favour of Coa as the O’Dwyer’s hit scores via Gary Lynch, Shay McCarney and Tiarnan McGrath made it all level before Gary Lynch struck over the decisive winning score.
