Liam Donnelly – Volunteer
Irvinestown St Molaise clubman Liam Donnelly is what the GAA is all about.
For his entire life he has dedicated his time to help his local GAA club, Irvinestown St Molaise, as player, manager and as an official.
Donnelly has in his time been a Footballer, Manager, Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and currently serves as Irish Language and Cultural Officer for the club and is also on the Fermanagh GAA County Board Development Committee.
Donnelly admits it has took up his whole life but he wouldn’t have it any other way, “It’s what I love doing. I got married in 1987 to Eilish and I have been married to Irvinestown St Molaise for even longer.”
He continued, “I was Club secretary for 12 years, Chairman for 5 years and I have helped out the club as much as I can and whenever I can.”
Today, Donnelly continues to contribute time and ideas to his beloved club with many supporters attending an Irvinestown home game most likely meeting Donnelly first with his tin box at the gate. He said, “I still like to get involved as much as I can with lining of the pitch, selling lotto’s and helping out on match day with anything that is needed to be done from car park attendant to opening and closing the clubrooms.”
Donnelly is a builder by trade and has always been very generous with his time when it came to help with any building at St Molaise Park. He is also a regular Ulster Council match day steward and also operates as a gateman for Fermanagh County Board.
Liam Donnelly has embedded good practice for all activities throughout Irvinestown and with good management he has maintained a robust and substantial heart with a culture of Irvinestown community which is a much better place when Liam Donnelly is involved.
If something needs to be done in Irvinestown then Liam gives no questions and gets the job done.
