Teemore storm back

By admin Mon 23rd Jul

One of the main stories from division one over the recent weeks has been the rally put in by Teemore to haul themselves back up the league ladder. The Shamrocks were in danger of being cast far adrift at the foot of the table and the relegation spectre was surfacing for them.

But in a remarkable turnaround they have chalked up three wins on bounce, the latest being a fine six point success over Erne Gaels and they are right back in the mix.

At the top of the table it has again been the case of front pacemakers unable to put daylight between themselves and the chasing posse. Both Lisnaskea and Ederney dropped home points to winning visitors? Roslea and Tempo respectively and all this has produced a league table which has just six points separating top from bottom.

So a very tight race to be run over the remaining seven matches on the programme and it is going to be a neck and neck race to qualify for the top four spots.

Meanwhile in the second division the front runners continue to be St Patricks. They underlined their credentials last Saturday night with an eight point away win over promotion hopefuls Kinawley. The Brian Boru?s were perhaps a shade unfortunate to be so decisively beaten. They put in a fighting second half display in which they outscored the Donagh side but a terrible defensive collapse over a five to seven minute spell in the second quarter which saw them concede a hat trick of goals left them scrambling for the rest of the hour.

St Patricks now well on course for a prompt return to the top flight, Enniskillen and Kinawley to fight it out for the second slot.
