St Michael’s MacRory and Hogan Cup heroes will be the guests of honour at this year’s Club Eirne Race Day.
The event will take place on Friday June 14 at Fairyhouse, Dublin and Club Eirne Chairman Ger Treacy is delighted to have Dom Corrigan and his wonderfully telented players in attendance.
“It is such a privilege to have Dom and the lads confirm their attendance at our Race Day. Every Fermanagh GAA supporter was filled with huge pride not once but twice over the past month as St Michael’s delivered the MacRory Cup and of course the Holy Grail of the Hogan Cup. The team have been wonderful role models for the youth of our County and having them as our guests in Fairyhouse will provide the 600 people we anticipate being in attendance the opportunity to thank them for the huge enjoyment they have provided us all with this year.
St Michael’s coach Dom Corrigan says that they are honoured to have been asked to attend.
“It will be an honour to attend the Race Day as All Ireland champions and we are really looking forward to what will be a fantastic day. It will be an opportunity for us to celebrate with all Fermanagh Gaels and it is also an opportunity to celebrate everything that is good in Fermanagh GAA. Hopefully all our teams will still be going strong in the championship at this stage.
“Club Eirne have been doing a great job in raising funds and supporting Fermanagh GAA and we are honoured to have been asked to attend,” he said.
The Club Eirne Race Day has become a popular date in the diary for Fermanagh GAA enthusiasts with top quality action on the track as well as plenty of GAA chat always on the menu. This year Club Eirne have gone South for the event and they will be taking centre stage at the famous Fairyhouse Course in mid-June.
The Race Day proceedings will commence at 5.00pm with a four-course dinner including wine before the first race gets underway at 6.15pm. A guest tipster will also be there to offer advice for punters who will receive free admission and a souvenir race card. The very popular best dressed male and female competition will as usual generate plenty of craic and discussion.
Treacy concluded by saying “The objective of the day is of course to raise funds for Fermanagh GAA so that all the teams in the county can be prepared to be the best that they can be. However, these types of social events also provide great networking opportunities for businesses and of course meeting up will old acquaintances and having the craic is very much on the cards. All in all, it is a day not to be missed”
