Fermanagh GAA in conjunction with Fermanagh GAA Referees and Fermanagh GAA Coaching & Games Committees are launching a RESPECT Campaign aimed at both players and non-players from all backgrounds, sexes and abilities. It will consist of opening up an understanding of the rules of our games and an understanding of what is the role of our referees.
This is not a referee recruitment programme, but if successfully completed candidates will be qualified to referee underage games both within your Club and throughout the County.
GAA Respect Initiative
Friday 27th & Saturday 28th March 2015
Strategic Aim: “We will introduce a detailed initiative to promote respect and discipline towards match officials and each other.”
The GAA Respect Initiative aims to promote positive behaviour and to ensure that an enriching environment is provided for the promotion and development of Gaelic Games.
We are asking all Clubs to send as many people as possible along to the Course. All Minor players should attend with spaces also reserved for U21 and Adults. The Course is also open to all non-players and they are very welcome to attend.
The first night will be held over 3 venues on the 27th March, commencing at 7pm sharp. The venues are St. Comhghalls College Lisnaskea, St. Michaels College Ennniskillen and Bawnacre Centre Irvinestown.
The 2nd part of the Course will consist of an applied rules seminar, fitness and rules test. This will be held at the Lakeland Forum Enniskillen on Saturday 28th march at 10am. All participant are asked to wear suitable footwear for a 3G pitch (Trainers).
The aim of this course is to engender a respect for both the rules of the GAA and their application by Referees. We hope that this will lead to improved levels of discipline in our games and in turn lead to a more enjoyable experience for all involved. It will also be a very good addition to someone’s CV and might lead to some one considering refereeing in the future.
I have enclosed the link for the application form and would ask that you circulate this information as soon as possible widely throughout your club.
