Lisnaskea Emmetts overcame a stubborn Devenish challenge to book their place in the quarter-finals of the?Target?Express Fermanagh SFC.
The Emmetts had led by five points towards the end of the first half but a Chris O’Brien?goalbrought Devenish back into contention on the stroke of half time.
And when Ruairi Doherty fired to the net four minutes into the second half the game began to swing the way of the Garrison men as they edged in front.
However, Lisnaskea regained the initiative when Aidy Little goaled as they moved four clear although with two minutes left substitute Jason Love left it a one point game as he accounted for Devenish’s thirdgoal?of the encounter.
It was the Emmetts though who were to claim the victory as Niall McElroy tagged on the final point of the game.
Lisnaskea got off to the best possible start to the game as Conor Curran slotted home from the first attack while Daniel Kille then fisted over a point to make it 1-01 to 0-00.
With John O’Flanagan and Barry Mulrone among the points Devenish left it 1-03 apiece by the midway stage of the half and they were to enjoy a good spell as Mulrone and O’Flanagan were again point scorers as the gap was reduced to the minimum.
Lisnaskea appeared to have regained control of matters when Kille fired to the net at the second attempt but Chris O’Brien drilled a cracking shot to the top corner to leave two between them at the interval, 2-04 to 1-05.
The lead stretched to four on the resumption as Aidy Little and Kille knocked over for Lisnaskea but Devenish were right back in it as Ruairi Doherty rifled to the net after a surging run from Marty O’Brien had resulted in the ball crashing off the crossbar.
This seemed to lift Devenish and Mulrone and Jason Love landed points to put them into a one point advantage, 2-07 to 2-06.
Lisnaskea though responded and Kille notched two points before Aidy Little finished to the net to give put the Emmetts four in front.
O’Flanagan and Little traded points but then Gerard Love fisted to the net for Devenish to set up a grandstand finish.
Lisnaskea though were to hang on and Niall McElroy drove over in added on time as they clinched a 3-10 to 3-08 win
