Fresh from the disappointment of last Saturday evening’s heartbreaking defeat at Croke Park, Fermanagh folk now turn back to club football as the Senior Football Leagues in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 resume this evening.
Tonight’s fixtures will be the final round of games worth two points for a win. While County players are eligible to return to club action tonight, it’s worth noting that these matches will still be played under the current two-point system.
From Sunday’s fixtures onwards, teams will receive three points for a win for the remainder of the league campaign across all three divisions, adding extra significance to every result as the race for league honours and survival intensifies.
Some Fermanagh County players may still be rested by their clubs following the physical and emotional toll of last Saturday’s agonising one-point defeat to Down at Croke Park. Whether managers decide to give those players additional recovery time remains to be seen.
One game has already been played, with Ederney recording another encouraging victory on Thursday evening. They defeated Kinawley by 2-14 to 1-14, a result that could prove hugely significant in an extremely competitive Division 2 table as the league season heads towards its conclusion in August.

Then onto Sundays games where the 3 points for a win kicks in as league tables get a lot more interesting and of course a victory is all the more important as teams either push on for league finals/promotion or stave off from relegation concerns.

A feast of football for sure for all supporters, some really interesting ties to take place this evening and to see will all County players return for each club team.
While Sundays games really start to make the league tables take shape with the 3 points for a win coming into play and also the lure of a Croke Park TV double header on Sunday will hopefully not see crowds diminish for Sundays ties.
