With the McKenna Cup less than 7 weeks away and the NFL a month later
the GAA have released official fixtures for Pete McGrath's footballers
for the NFL as they look forward to having 4 games in Spring 2016 and
a hotly contested division 2 campaign that shows 5 Ulster teams competing
along with Meath, Laois and Galway.
We start with a meeting on Sunday January 31st in Owenbeg against newly
installed Derry manager Damien Barton's charges before having the first
of our 4 home clashes against Meath in Brewster Park in two games that
will go along way in telling us how our division 2 campaign will look like.
A 3 week break in the NFL campaign sees us back on the road again as we
travel to another Ulster neighbour in Armagh before two home clashes in 6
days against Laois and Cavan will conclude round 5.
Easter Sunday is Round 6 when we make a visit to Galway before we finish
the NFL campaign with a home clash against Tyrone on April 3rd.
A mouth watering campaign if I must say.
The Fermanagh hurlers start their Division 3B campaign on the first Sunday
in March and will hopefully build up good form before they contest in
the Lory Meagher Cup. They have just the 3 games before the top two face
each other in the Division 3B Final with the winner then playing the
fifth placed side in NHL Division 3A to decide who will play in the NHL
Division 3A for 2017.
Plenty of fixtures hopefully for the hurlers
even though it makes for an extremely complicated process compared to
the footballers.
