Fermanagh IFC Final
Kinawley v Tempo
Sat Sept 24th @ 7.30pm
Brewster Park, Enniskillen
Division 2 side Kinawley will go into next Saturday’s Fermanagh IFC Final as favourites after coming through battles against Coa and Lisnaskea along the way.
It can be said Tempo have had a tougher run to next Saturdays Final with victories against Enniskillen and Division 1 side Maguiresbridge.
Both sides have been backboned by two robust squads with Tempo having Aidan Breen back after a stint in America, while likewise Kinawley were to be boosted with the return of Fermanagh ace James Allen and Ciaran Breen, both in America for the Summer as well.
Ruairi Corrigan and Sean McManus have been Kinawley’s stand out performers this season, while for Tempo Aidan Breen and Niall McCusker have got the bulk of the Maguire’s scores.
Kinawley’s last IFC title came in 2009 before they lost in the opening round in Ulster club to Cavan’s Lavey at Brewster Park.
Tempos last IFC title came in 2002 and with just 1 win in 18 Division 1 league games the Maguire’s will be well up to collect a IFC title before facing into relegation clashes for league survival.
Both sides will play in next year’s Senior Championship with St Patrick’s Donagh and Irvinestown replacing them.
Last season Irvinestown got the better of Teemore 1-12 to 1-9. In 2014 Derrylin surprised Maguiresbridge while 2013 seen Maguiresbridge lose to Enniskillen Gaels.
Ulster club wins have been scarce for Fermanagh Intermediate winners with Enniskillen losing in 2013 to Eskra (Tyrone), 2014 seen Derrylin defeat St Pauls Lurgan (Armagh) in a memorable win before a strong Inniskeen (Monaghan) knocked the O’Connell’s out, last season seen Irvinestown go down in Extra time to a powerful Glenavy (Antrim) side.
This year the Fermanagh Intermediate winners will travel once again to the Antrim champions, the Antrim IFC Final takes place the same evening as the Fermanagh Final, Kinawley or Tempo will be facing the winners from St Marys Aghagallon or Dunloy, that Final taking place at Creggan Kickhams on Saturday September 24th at 4pm.
