A close contest was expected as St Patrick’s Donagh, in search of a first title, go up against Derrygonnelly Harps, who last won the New York Cup four years previously in 2004.
This was St Patrick’s seventh appearance in a Senior County Final having previously tasted defeat in 1976, 1978, 1982, 1984, 2002 and 2003.
St Patrick’s Donagh had an impressive run to the final, defeating Lisnaskea Emmetts, Enniskillen Gaels and Teemore Shamrocks.
Derrygonnelly Harps meanwhile overcame Kinawley Brian Borus, Irvinestown St Molaise and Tempo Maguires to reach the 2008 decider.
