On an emotional day for Fermanagh hurling, a first ever Lory Meagher Cup title was dedicated to the memory of former team-mate Shane Mulholland, who was killed in a road crash earlier this year.

The Erne men came from behind to defeat Sligo, despite having three men sent off in the second half.

Gerard O’Kelly-Lynch sent over five points as Sligo cruised into a 0-9 to 0-2 lead by the 20th minute, with skipper Keith Raymond also hitting the target regularly.

But Fermanagh got themselves back in the game on 22 minutes when Sean Corrigan knocked in the first of their three first half goals.

Seven minutes later, they grabbed a second goal through Declan McGarry, who

finished his second major from close range after Andrew Breslin’s effort had been parried by Hayes.

Fermanagh led by 3-5 to 0-12 at the break, and continued to prosper, with the stylish Sean Corrigan landing a couple of gems.

They lost midfielder Duffy to a second yellow card on 43 minutes, but continue to pick off the scores, with Brian McLaughlin knocking over a couple as they stretched the lead to eight.

Ciaran Brennan pulled back a Sligo goal, and despite losing Karl Kehoe (straight red) and David Teague (second yellow), they drove for home with three superb McLaughlin scores.
