A meeting of Fermanagh GAA’s Facilities Committee took place on Friday to progress plans for the development of three new floodlit GAA pitches at Ashwoods, on the outskirts of Enniskillen.
The proposed facilities will also include a spectator stand and modern facilities including changing rooms, a gym, meeting rooms and office accommodation, creating a central hub to support playing, coaching, administration and development activity across the county.
A spokesperson for Fermanagh GAA said:
“The need for additional, high-quality facilities in Fermanagh has never been greater. With the impending integration of the LGFA into the GAA, we are now catering for a significantly increased number of players across all ages and codes, and our existing infrastructure is under real pressure.
“We are also operating in a very different environment than was previously the case. Changing weather patterns mean heavier rainfall, while an expanded and evolving playing calendar has increased the demand on pitches year-round.
“The proposed development at Ashwoods, including three floodlit pitches and modern ancillary facilities, is about future-proofing our county, ensuring we can provide safe, accessible and fit-for-purpose facilities for players, coaches and supporters.
“This meeting was an important step in progressing these plans and continuing our work to secure the funding needed to deliver a facility that will serve Fermanagh GAA for generations to come.”
