The Fermanagh Competitions Control Committee met this evening to begin the planning process for the 2021 season, following the recent guidance on Return to Play issued by the Ulster Council.
By way of an update, clubs can begin to prepare for an 18 game Senior Football League campaign that will commence on Friday 21st May 2021 and a 9 game Erne Cup that will commence on Sunday 23rd May 2021. This allows 3 further free weekends for players to prepare for the season, building on the work that has been carried out to date.
The 2020 Junior Football Championship Final is planned for mid-August, with a firm date to be issued when all club fixtures are being circulated. The 2021 Senior, Intermediate & Junior Football Championships will be held as normal following the completion of the 18 rounds of SFL games, with the 2021 Reserve Football Championship being played when the Erne Cup campaign is concluded.
A decision on underage football and hurling competitions was deferred until clarity is received on the timing of the 2020 and 2021 Inter-County Minor competitions and we hope to receive this within the next 7 days or so.
There will be many questions arising from this communication and we expect to be in a position to provide full clarity on all matters with the publication of the 2021 Fixtures Masterplan and Competition Regulations within the next 3 weeks, which hopefully will cover both adult and underage levels in football and hurling.
