Championship Weekend
Championship Weekend

This weekend sees the start of the Fermanagh Senior Football Championship with four exciting games taking place. It all begins on Saturday evening with a double-header in Derrygonnelly with Erne Gaels and Kinawley, Brian Borus first into action. Just three points separate these teams in the league, and this is a match that is expected to go down to the wire. Following this will be what many would class the tie of the day, the clash of Teemore Shamrocks and Devenish, St Mary’s. Teemore, having been relegated to division two this year, haven’t dropped a point in the league. Devenish will fancy their chances having operated at a higher level in the league, but this is one game that could swing either way.
Sunday sees the action move to Brewster Park with another double header. Belcoo O`Rahilly’s and Lisnaskea Emmetts is the first game up. Beaten finalists last year, Lisnaskea will be favourites to progress. Belcoo currently sit bottom of the division one table but could still cause an upset in this tie. Temp Maguires, the county champions, will then take to the field for thir game against St Patrick’s, Donagh. The Maguires have managed to get their best team on the field in the last few weeks and have returned to winning way. Sean Maguire is back in the hot seat for St Pat’s and he was the first man to lead them to success a few years back and will be keen for his team to cause an upset. It is sure to be an exciting weekend and four games not to be missed.
