Darragh Coalter – Coa O’Dwyers
Darragh Coalter’s attitude to Coa O’Dwyers is unparalleled as he plays underage for his club and helps his Dad manage the Senior team, he is committed to ensuring that everyone at the club is catered for.
Darragh is only 11 years old and has volunteering in his blood and has made a significant contribution within Coa.
Darragh is a great ambassador for his club Coa O’Dwyers. His father Brian manages the Senior team and Darragh is there right beside him at every training session and at every match.
Darragh is an integral part of the club and works extremely hard; helping to set up training sessions, water boy, cleans out changing rooms, hands out the team kits, helps on the gate at matches and stays long after matches have finished to keep the place clean and lock up.
The likeable Coalter though is hugely modest and plays all down, “I have been part of Coa football club since I was born and to be honest I don’t know what I would do if Coa O’Dwyers was not in my life. I currently play for the under 12’s and have competed in under 8 and under 10’s too.
Darragh currently attends Tattygar Primary School and has three sisters, Shannon, Eimear and Ciarrai.
He continues, “I love being involved with my Dad and with the senior team it is all good fun, all the lads are very welcoming and good to me while match days are just the best. We have good craic at training sessions and being part of this club is fantastic and I love it very much.”
Coa O’Dwyers Secretary Elaine Diver also commented, “Darragh is an inspiration to all young people involved in sport. He works extremely hard both in the classroom and on the field, with playing and helping out at training.”
Darragh’s Coa O’Dwyers are currently flying high in the Manor House Hotel SFL Division 2 and for young Coalter he admits he is loving being assistant with his father, “Every match I put the flags out, fill the water bottles, look after the jerseys, clean the changing rooms and make sure all the balls are accounted for. My proudest moment was when I was invited into the team huddle before a game. We are going well and I hope we can stay up at the top part of Division 2.”
There is no doubting it, Darragh Coalter is a true Gael and deserves recognition for all his hard work he carries out in the background and for his support and playing at every match.
