We all head off to Ballybofey on Sunday in anticipation of a Fermanagh victory but first for the GAA person in Fermanagh there is a fantastic round of Senior football league fixtures in ‘Games For The Club Player’ this Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.
Reports and Preview from Senior Football League Division 1 and 2, Round 9 fixtures.
Senior Football League Division 1 Round 9 (GCP) –
Friday June 3rd
Maguiresbridge 1-10 v Belcoo 4-12 = Goals for Belcoo from Matthew McAloon (2), Aaron Dolan and Philip Leonard gave Belcoo a deserving 11 point victory. The Maguiresbridge goal coming from Fermanagh hurling star Sean Corrigan which now leaves his side still in 8th place.
Saturday June 11th (7.00pm)
Tempo V Roslea = Tempo are still winless at the bottom of the league. Roslea are going well and sit in 4th place with the 2nd highest scoring tally to date. It points to another Roslea win.
Devenish V Erne Gaels = A derby game that the home team badly need to get points from. Erne Gaels have been motoring along nicely all season and sit in 2nd place. Erne Gaels have the joint best defence in the league. Erne Gaels should pick up the points but it is a derby clash.
Derrygonnelly V Teemore = The Harps can do very little wrong at the moment. 7 wins on the trot, highest scoring team in the division, joint best defence in the division. Teemore started well but the wheels have slowly come off, they sit mid table and will look to put in a performance here. Home advantage is a huge addition to Derrygonnelly.
Irvinestown V St Joseph’s Ederney = Another derby clash in Division 1 and Irvinestown will be going all out to get back on winning ways after a defeat to Devenish last time out. Aidan Gilroy has made a real impact with Ederney since Finbar McConnell’s departure and this game can very much go either way.
Senior Football League Division 2, Round 9 (GCP) –
Thursday June 9th
Aghadrumsee V Coa = Aghadrumsee’s great start has came to an end with recent defeats but they still should do enough here against a Coa side who are missing a raft of players through injury and work. Eoin Donnelly another critical loss here due to Fermanagh commitments. Aghadrumsee fancied.
Friday June 10th
Kinawley V Derrylin = Kinawley are in sensational form with 8 wins from 8. Derrylin have had a tough season to date but did pick up a win at home to Brookeborough the last day out. County players aside I still feel Kinawley will have enough quality to defeat their neighbours.
St Patrick’s Donagh V Belnaleck = Donagh are also sitting pretty at the moment with 6 wins from 7. While Belnaleck have hit a bit of form of late with draws against Newtownbutler and Enniskillen. The home advantage should surely swing it Donagh’s way.
Saturday June 11th
Brookeborough V Newtownbutler = Another tough league campaign for Brookeborough who have still to pick up a single point from 7 games. Newtownbutler sit mid-table but with games in hand. Another 2 points to Newtownbutler seems the likely call here.
Lisnaskea V Enniskillen = The two big towns of Fermanagh clash in a game that sees neither side making any great strides in Division 2 this season. Lisnaskea have picked up a bit of form of late and a solid win away to Newtownbutler copper fastens this. Enniskillen have only picked up 2 wins from 8 games in the league this season and so the home team looks the more likely winner here.
