ULSTER MINOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE, GROUP B
TYRONE V FERMANAGH @ GARVAGHEY
APRIL 2ND 2016 @ 1.00PM
Fermanagh head to Omagh on Saturday knowing that a third defeat in a row will all but end the slim chances they have of reaching the Competition’s main semi final.
Tyrone come into the game with a surprising defeat picked up in the first game against Antrim before more normal service was resumed with a 3-13 to 1-14 victory over Derry.
Tyrone chalked up a second win and this time more hard fought last Saturday as they defeated Donegal 1-9 to 2-8 in a tightly contested clash in Ballybofey.
Its no doubting that Fermanagh will come into the game as strong underdogs.
Fermanagh goalkeeper Gary Doherty has been solid in the campaign, while defenders in front of him such as Eoghan Curran and Shane McGullion have kept things tight.
The midfield pairing of Darragh McGurn and Daire O’Caithain are slowly starting to have a strong understanding between them, while up front its Tempo attacker Tiarnan Bogue that has been the best player to date with Colm Jones not far behind.
Tyrone will be looking forward to the game on the Garvaghey surface and thus far form players getting the bulk of the scores include Edendork’s Paul Donaghy, Dromore pair Emmett McNabb and Oran Sludden, while Tomas Carney of Derrylaughan has been something of a goal getter in this campaign. Also keep an eye out for Pomeroy ace Jude Campbell who scored two goals for St Patricks Dungannon this year in the MacRory Cup against St Michaels Enniskillen.
Fermanagh will need to keep things tight and if they give a good account of themselves it will be half the battle.
Last year Tyrone won this battle, 1-16 to 0-6 in Irvinestown.
