At Friday night's Fermanagh & Omagh District Council Awards in Mahon's Hotel, Irvinestown, Derrygonnelly
Harps clubman Hugh Kelly was awarded the 'Services to Sport' award.
The award recognised his life time of services to GAA at Derrygonnelly Harps and also for his sterling work
with Fermanagh GAA.
The modest retired School Principal was taken aback with the award, but composed himself superbly to speak
from the heart with regards what GAA has meant to him to the large audience in attendance, which was
compared by the well known Adrian Logan.
Hugh was an inspirational footballer for Derrygonnelly Harps who managed the
Harps with Donal Fee to a first ever Fermanagh SFC title for the West Fermanagh club in 1995.
He has also helped with coaching and administration at all levels for Derrygonnelly Harps and Fermanagh GAA
and it is clear without him the GAA scene of Fermanagh would not be such a special place.
A hugely well deserved award Hugh, and on behalf of Fermanagh GAA we salute you
.
