Danske Bank MacRory Cup
St Patrick’s Maghera 0-8 v St Michael’s Enniskillen 2-5
Just 4 days after picking up a 21 point defeat to St Patricks Dungannon, St Michaels Enniskillen travelled to Derrytresk on Tuesday morning knowing another defeat would severley render any hope of making a top two finish in the race for a MacRory Cup Quarter Final spot.
The South Derry school led throughout the first half with six points in a row coming from Ryan McElwee (3), Conor Mulholland, Larry Kielt and Shea Downey. But in the 24th minute Matthew McAloon (pictured for Belcoo) found space to finish off a great St Michaels move and that’s how it finished at half time, 0-6 to 1-0.
St Michaels under the watchful eye of Dom Corrigan came out for the second half in terrific fashion and hit 4 unanswered points from Tiarnan Bogue (2), Lorcan McStravick and Conall Quinn to move the Fermanagh side 1 point ahead.
On the 47th minute St Michaels had another sweeping move from defence to attack and once again it was Belcoo’s McAloon who was on the end of the move to fire his shot to the roof of the net to make it 2-4 to 0-6 against a shell shocked Maghera side.
Maghera did finally respond with points from Ryan McElwee and Conal Darragh, but Michael óg McGarrigle pointed from close in for the Enniskillen school to record a fully deserving win by 3 points at the end.
St Michael’s : Matthew McAloon 2-0, Tiarnan Bogue 0-2 frees, Lorcan McStravick 0-1, Conal Quinn 0-1, Michael óg McGarrigle 0-1.
