U16 ‘A’ Football Championship Semi Final Reports
Derrygonnelly 5-12 V Kinawley 0-5
Derrygonnelly ran out comfortable winners by 22 points at a sun drenched Belcoo to make the showpiece Fermanagh U16 Final on Sunday October 2nd along with their Senior side.
The Harps were in firm control of this game throughout and led at half time thanks to 3 goals coming from Darragh McGrath (2) and Gavin McGovern as they went in 3-6 to 0-4 at the break, the bulk of Kinawley points coming from Tom Keenan and Eoin Drumm.
The second half saw more of the same with Derrygonnelly adding further goals from the excellent Gavin McGovern and the talented Michael Glynn, while further points were supplied by Glynn, Gavin McGovern and a superb point at the end by Leigh Greene.
The single Kinawley point in the second half came from Tom Keenan after good work by Shea Baxter and Aaron Tierney but all in all a deserved Derrygonnelly victory here.
Enniskillen 3-16 v Belnaleck 3-8
Enniskillen are current holders of the Under-16 title and they took care of a hard working Belnaleck side this evening with a six point victory at the end in Maguiresbridge.
Belnaleck were to start the better and led early on thanks to a two goal burst from Oisin Monaghan to put his side ahead while further points were added by Ryan Cassidy and Dara McBrien, 2-3 to 0-4.
Enniskillen came into the game as the first half went past midway and they hit a goal from Conor Love and further points from Callum Jones and Killian Corrigan as the sides went in at the break, Enniskillen 1-8 v Belnaleck 2-3.
Enniskillen started the second half with a goal in the opening minute from Fergal Quinn and Corrigan and Quinn would add further points as Enniskillen powered on by the 40th minute.
Credit to Belnaleck though who would not lie down and hit a third goal for themselves from Garvin Quigley but this was an Enniskillen side that were in control of the middle of the field and through the sublime Callum Jones they hit a flurry of late points with the excellent Jones finishing the game with a personal tally of 0-9.
