Pol McKervey of Ederney St Josephs will be Fermanagh’s sole representative when an Ulster Under-16 squad take on Dublin Under-17’s this Tuesday August 2nd.

McKervey who is 16 years old and a student at St Michaels College in Enniskillen has came through the youth levels at his home club of Ederney and is looking forward to the challenge of playing for his province.

“It is going to be a bit strange pulling on the Ulster jersey and playing with a team of players that I don’t really know to be honest. I am looking forward to seeing what Dublin will be like and of course I hope to get playing in the game and hopefully we can get a win.”

The versatile McKervey who can perform in defence and attack has been travelling to Jordanstown attending the Ulster GAA Players’ Academy with 4 other Fermanagh Under-16’s.

In total there were 98 young players that stayed at a 2 day event at Jordanstown that seen Tyrone star Matthew Donnelly take a training session and they were also to hear from professionals about Health, nutrition, recovery and wellbeing.

The camp hopes that players can see what a future of being a County footballer is like and its now in its 14th year with former Ulster under-16’s including Donegal’s Michael Murphy and Monaghan’s Conor McManus.

McKervey was to be called into the Ulster squad, the only Fermanagh player and he hopes to make the Fermanagh Minor squad next season, for now the whole of Fermanagh wishes him the very best of luck on Tuesday when he makes a first ever appearance for Ulster.

Good luck Paul from all at Fermanagh GAA.
