Ulster U15 Blitz report

Good performances for Fermanagh 15’s

Fermanagh hosted a regional blitz with three counties represented each bringing two teams of equal ability. Fermanagh overall played four games winning two and suffering defeat in two games. The management found it a very useful blitz. The will know be a break from Under 15 academy due to school exams and the squad will return to action in late June. Development squad updates will be posted on the Fermanagh GAA website and social media pages.

Fermanagh (Upper Pitch) 3-08 Monaghan 1-12

Flanagan the hero for Fermanagh

The first game in the upper pitch of Lissan was a fantastic match. Monaghan scored 5 points in the first half with some good attacking play. Fermanagh got points from Luca McCuaker , Ben keytles and Odhran Flanagan taking some fine scores. Captain Aaron McManus had a great first half and was rewarded himself with a goal. (Half time Fermanagh 1-4 Monaghan 0-5)The 2nd half started with Monaghan playing good football and getting a number of points. A Flanagan goal and a point from centre half back Achlin O’Cathain put Fermanagh ahead but the Fermanagh defence had a moment of weakness and with 90 seconds left Monaghan got a goal to put them on the verge of winning. Fermanagh keeper Caolon Feely took a short kick out that was worked up the pitch to Conor Love who laid off the ball to Flanagan who with the last kick of the game got a goal to give Fermanagh the win. Great play and composure by the Devenish forward. In defence Feely , O’Cathain ,Rian McGovern and Callum Padian all performed well.

Fermanagh (Upper Pitch) 5-07 Cavan 0-03

Fermanagh win big against Cavan.

The 2nd game in the upper field did not have the same excitement as Fermanagh’s first but the home team played some fantastic football with a number of players putting in a good performance. Scores from Conor Love got Fermanagh of to a good start. This was followed up by an Aaron McManus goal. With Love , Luca McCusker and Leigh Green getting the rest of the goals. While Rian McGovern scored a great point and Sean Lynam pitched in finishing the first half scoring. The 2nd half provided fewer score with McManus and Killian Corrigan getting points and Enniskillen’s Ben Kettyles getting final goal.

Lower Pitch

Fermanagh 0-4 Monaghan 2-10

Strong 2nd half give Monaghan win.

The first half of this game was a great battle in where both teams exchanged points and showed great defensive play. The star for Fermanagh was midfielder Oisin Jackson who scored two fantastic points. In defence Derrygonnelly pair of Ronan McHugh and Dara Burke performed well to keep the half time score at 4 points each. The 2nd half started with Monaghan in control who took some well

taken scores. Monaghan’s fitness levels resulted in them running away with the game despite the efforts of midfielders Jackson and Aarron Tierney.

Lower Pitch

Fermanagh 2-4 Cavan 2-10

Cavan hold on for the win

This was an intense game the showed both teams playing some fantastic football. The first half was Cavan in control with some fine scores from the away side. The 2nd half seen Fermanagh come back to life with Odhran Flanagan helping himself to 1 goal and three points towards the fightback. The fightback was largely due to some great work in midfield from Aaron Teriney and Fergal Quinn as well as Fermanagh’s defence improving with Josh Largo Elis solid at centre half back and Dara Burke and Callum Paduim putting in a good performance.

Overall in the four games which resulted in 38 players in total representing Fermanagh. This performance shows great promise for the future.
