Fermanagh GAA Coaching & Games info

By Tom Thu 29th Sep

U14/U13 Academy activity is ongoing at present across 4 different regions, Derrygonnelly, Derrylin, Donagh & Brewster Park. The plan is to identify these players in their own local environment so they get familiar playing with each other and a tougher challenge presented against the best in the county. 140 boys at U14 are being coached in their regions, they are being assessed and put through their paces to try to identify players with the right mix of ability, attitude and commitment.
All the regions will then come together to go up against each other in the form of internal games and after this two squads will be selected to travel Sligo for an inter-county challenge in preparation for an upcoming Ulster Blitz. The work on the ground is very encouraging, the players are responding well and showing a great hunger to be apart of the Academy Pathway.

The County U17 squad have also been working hard with sessions in Lissan and games against the likes of Down and Tyrone. They are now preparing to play Kildare this weekend in Newbridge and the follow week Fermanagh will host Laois at Lissan. The players hard work and attitude has been great, these two games will test them against the unknown. As stated before these players have a busy number of months ahead with various teams from MacRory Cup, Ulster Schools, U17 and County Minors, best wishes to them all and we look forward to their progress.
Thanks to all the coaches who are working with our U14s & U17s, without whom this development work would be impossible; Keith Reilly, Fabian Burns, Aodhgan Murphy, Eddie O’Reilly, Paddy McGovern, Pat Cadden, James Duffy, Daryl Keenan, Leon Carters, Phil O’Connor & Liam McDermott and kit man Seamus McMahon.
